Reconnect

2021

Responding to the Coronavirus pandemic, I wanted to celebrate the journeys that had been rendered obsolete.

Reconnect was inspired by the prolonged periods of lockdown and isolation, when many of us were unable to visit friends and family through recent difficult times.

I began to notice street signs on his weekly walk for groceries.  During the height of the pandemic I was struck by the idea that these frequent indicators, which are usually open symbols of direction became a resource of optimism.

Working closely with my brother Keith Jex as the technical advisor and fabricated by Astley Signs, the work featured on BBC Radio and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport.
