Institute of Monochrome Art (IOMA) is the pairing of two artists who have worked, or continue to work in a single colour. IOMA explores, documents and questions the monochrome and the artists' interest in it, highlighting both the similarities and differences. Facilitating 'phantom' or imagined exhibition opportunities for these artists can be seen at the project website.
For Vane, Jex enlarged the paired posters to the scale reminiscent of Colour Field Paintings with complimentary colours, the paired artists themes included recognition of two abstract female artists whose work reflected the enviroment of where they lived / worked. The familarity of two similar looking works which their presence of a pink hue and two artists that died from HIV/AIDS related illness.
